Sunday Funday Is Here: The Brunch-Style Virginia Wine Tour for Anyone With a Monday

There’s a sweet spot between a quick tasting and a full day out: a relaxed Sunday, a good lunch, two Virginia wineries, and a ride home that leaves room to enjoy the rest of your evening. That’s the idea behind Sunday Funday, Vineyard Voyages’ brunch-style Loudoun wine tour for anyone who wants wine country without giving up the whole weekend.

It’s a welcoming DC day trip for brunch crews, couples, first-time tasters, and anyone who likes the sound of a Sunday adventure followed by a manageable Monday.

A later start, with time for lunch

Sunday Funday begins at 11:00 AM at the West Falls Church Metro Kiss & Ride, at 7040 Haycock Road. Weekend parking is free. There’s also a Leesburg pickup at 11:55 AM at Market Station, in front of G Vino Wine Bar at 110 South Street SE.

The tour lasts about six hours. Guests returning to Leesburg are expected back around 4:15 PM, while the West Falls Church return is about 5:00 PM. Those are planned times, so traffic can shift the schedule a little.

The itinerary visits two wineries, with a lunch stop at the first. Lunch is not included in either ticket; you’ll choose and purchase food from the winery’s menu. It’s a leisurely way to settle in, eat, and enjoy your first stop before continuing to the afternoon winery.

Choose the ticket that suits your day

Sunday Funday has two straightforward options:

  • Explorer: $79 per guest, plus a 6% booking fee. Your ticket includes the tour and winery stops; you choose and buy the tastings you want at each winery.
  • Connoisseur: $139 per guest, plus a 6% booking fee. A tasting at both wineries is arranged ahead of time.

Neither ticket includes lunch. For the right Sunday, Explorer offers flexibility; Connoisseur is a nice fit if you’d rather have tastings arranged before you arrive. Check the Sunday Funday page for dates, route pairings, and booking details.

Two wineries, with a different pairing by date

Each Sunday itinerary features two partner wineries, and the pairing depends on the date. Examples include Williams Gap Vineyard followed by Good Spirit Farm, 868 Estate Vineyards followed by 8 Chains North, and Hillsborough Winery followed by Firefly Cellars. The booking calendar shows the pairing for each tour date, so you can see where your Sunday is headed before you reserve.

Guests enjoying a winery deck with vineyard views

Sunday Funday draws from Vineyard Voyages’ 13 Loudoun County winery partners: 868 Estate, 8-Chains North, Casanel, Carriage House, Domaine Fortier, Fabbioli, Firefly, Fleetwood Farm, Good Spirit Farm, Hillsborough, Kalero, Tranquility Farm, and Williams Gap. Each has its own setting and personality, and a guided visit makes it easier to enjoy the day without planning your own route between scattered winery stops. Explore the partner wineries and tour routes to learn more.

A guided experience that feels easy to join

You don’t need to be a wine expert to enjoy the day. Every host is a Certified Tourism Ambassador, and the team brings wine knowledge in a relaxed, approachable way: Christian holds WSET Level 2, Dan holds WSET Level 1, and Haley is also part of the hosting team. Ask a question, try something new, or simply enjoy the scenery and company at your own pace.

The wineries provide indoor seating, so tours run rain or shine. And for Sunday Funday only, guests may bring up to two canned alcoholic drinks per person to enjoy on the bus. Cans only: no bottles, glass, coolers, or beer. Drinks must stay on the bus because outside alcohol is not allowed at the wineries. All guests must be 21 or older.

How Sunday compares with the Saturday Full Day

If you’re deciding between two Virginia wine tours, think about the kind of day you want. Sunday Funday keeps the pace shorter, with two winery stops, a lunch break at the first, and an afternoon return. It’s especially appealing if you’d like a proper outing but want to be home around dinner time.

The Saturday Full Day is the longer option: three wineries, a 10:00 AM start from West Falls Church, and tickets from $99. It gives you another winery stop and more time in wine country. See the tour-day comparison if you’re weighing the two.

Make Sunday feel like a getaway

Sunday Funday is a good match for friends who want brunch and a change of scenery, couples looking for an easy date day, and first-timers curious about Loudoun wine country. It’s also a thoughtful pick for anyone who wants to spend time together without assigning one person the jobs of driving, navigating, and keeping the itinerary on track.

Start at West Falls Church if you’re coming from the DC area and want free weekend parking, or meet the group in Leesburg. Then settle in for lunch, enjoy two winery visits, and leave the driving and timing to your host and professional driver.
